Celestial bodies around tail of Scorpius
This is a star field image covering 17.0×11.4° in the southeastern part of Scorpius. With a maximum altitude of only 10-20 degrees above the horizon in Japan, this region is challenging to capture clearly. The galactic equator runs diagonally across the frame, with a variety of nebulae and star clusters scattered throughout.
In the upper left of the image, two open clusters M6 and M7, which can be enjoyed even with binoculars, stand side by side. Extending southwest from them are various Hα nebulae, including the Lobster Nebula (NGC 6357), the Cat's Paw Nebula (NGC 6334), and IC 4628.
This image has cropped with an equivalent focal length of 120 mm.
