This is a reflection nebula located in the upper part of Orion. The bright star in the center of the image is the 4.5 magnitude ω Orionis, positioned 5.2 degrees southwest of Betelgeuse. The nebula reflects the light from this blue giant star. Due to the brilliance of ω Orionis, capturing detailed information about the nebula itself is challenging. However, the expansive presence of a noticeable nebula is evident on the northwest side (upper right). This area corresponds to the northern end of the Barnard's Loop, and it is believed that some of the interstellar gas drifting here is associated with vdB49.
