This image has captured dimmed nebulosities in northwest edge of Auriga, positioned at 2 to 5 degrees west of Capella.
You can swith between color and monochrome emphasized images by clicking on a button at upper right-hand side of this page.
In right (west) of the image, you can see Sh2-216 with a diameter of about 3 degrees.
The nebula has been considered one of closest and ancient planetary nebulae.
Actually Sh2-216 has about round shape, but the western part is extraordinary dimmed so this image shows you only eastern part as an arc-like shape.
And in opposite left side a supernova remnant of Sh2-221 has been distributed in span of about 4 degrees. You can recognize the filament-like structures mistily.
In north of Sh2-221, two tiny emission nebulae can be seen.
Sh2-217 has a size of about 7 arc minutes, and another one of Sh2-219 just 20 arc minutes southwest of Sh2-217 has a round shape with a diameter of 2 arc minutes.
These nebulae are lying over 10 thousand light years away, have no relations with Sh2-216 and Sh2-221.
