It is an edge-on galaxy located 4.1 degrees west of alpha Hydrae, Alphard. The galaxy has a brightness of about 12 mag and a major axis of 5 arc minutes, but it has not been registered in the NGC catalog. The galaxy has a somewhat distorted shape, and you can see the presence of a dark lane running through the central bulge.
