UGC8837 (Holmberg IV) is a faint irregular dwarf galaxy located 1.3 degrees west of the spiral galaxy M101, which itself lies 5 degrees east of Mizar in Ursa Major. UGC8837 is one of M101's companion galaxies and spans just under 5 arcminutes from north to south. However, with a magnitude of 13.8, it is extremely faint, and the detailed internal structure of the galaxy is indistinct. Its distance from the Milky Way is estimated to be about 24 million light-years.
