This image captures a small galaxy group scattered 2.1 degrees southwest of Spica in the constellation Virgo. At the center of the field, NGC 5077 is visible, an elliptical galaxy with a major axis of just under 3 arcminutes. It is one of the Seyfert galaxies, known for hosting an active black hole at its nucleus. Surrounding it are smaller spiral galaxies, including NGC 5079 and NGC 5088.
NGC 5077 and NGC 5079 are located around 150 million light-years away and form the NGC5077 galaxy group. In contrast, NGC 5088 is positioned in the foreground and is not directly related to this group.
