NGC3717 is a medium sized edge-on galaxy positioned at 1.5 degrees north of xi Hydrae in central region of the constellation. The galaxy has long and short axes of 7.4 and 1.5 arc minutes, respectively. NGC3717 has been classified in spindle-shaped spirals, a central dark lane can be detected clearly. The distance to the galaxy has been estimated about 92 millions light years.
