NGC3109 is a fairly large sized barred galaxy positioned in central region of Hydra, near a boundary on Antlia. The galaxy has an elliptical shape with its long axis of larger than 20 arc minutes in east west direction, we can recognize a shape like an irregular galaxy in this picture. NGC3109 has a visual brightness of about 10th magnitude but it's difficult to observe under good conditioned night because of lower meridian latitude at northern hemisphere. The galaxy is lying at about 4.1 millions light years away, belonging to the Local Group with our Milky Way Galaxy.
