This image shows you a galactic pair with an interval of 3 arc minutes positioned about 7 degrees southeast from Alphard, alpha Hya. A northern one has a number of NGC2992 and southern galaxy is NGC2993. NGC2992, northern galaxy, has a unique feature that the galaxy has a dimmed light belt like a tongue stretching toward northern direction. It's considered that the anomalous shape has been formed by a gravitational interaction with a neighboring galaxy NGC2993. The tongue-like light has a length of about over 3 arc minutes by estimating from this picture.
