It is a small galaxy group located in the northeastern part of the constellation Eridanus, approximately 4.6 degrees southwest of Rigel in Orion. The distance to the group is around 160 to 200 million light-years, and within an area of just under 20 arc minutes, several galaxies with sizes ranging from 2 to 3 arc minutes are gathered. The largest one, NGC 1723, is a peculiar barred galaxy with a brightness of 12.5th magnitude and an elongated diameter of just over 3 arc minutes.
