NGC1744 is a comparatively large-sized galaxy positioned at southwest edge of Lepus. The galaxy is elongated in north south direction, has a long axis of about 8 arc minutes and 11th magnitude in brightness. Although the galaxy has been classified in the barred galaxy, its spiral structure looks fairly indistinct, losing the shape.
