There are two unique diffused nebulae around ζ Ori (Altanik). Firstly, a faint and vast one spread at south of Altanik is famous as "The Horsehead Nebula, Barnard 33", a reddish nebula as a background of the horsehead-shaped dark cloud is registered in a catalogue as IC434, that is spread to about 3.5 degree SW, around The Great Orion Nebula M42. It's extremely difficult to detect with our eyes.
The other one just east of Altanik, NGC2024 is able to be seen with naked eyes in good conditioned sky (of course needs binoculars or scopes). It has about a same size with full moon, and complicated shaped dark filaments divide the nebula into two parts of east and west. The gaseous nebula has a nickname of "The Christmas Tree Nebula" in English, but has no popular name in Japan.
This image has been cropped with an equivalent focal length of 700mm.
