A compact reflection nebula of vdB24 is positioned at 3 degrees northwest of the California nebula in Perseus. The nebula has a span of about 9 arc minutes, reflecting the light of a central variable star of Persei XY with 8.6th magnitude in brightness. vdB24 seems divided in three by the dark nebula of LDN1442 spread in front of the nebula. The distance from us has been estimated as about 1140 light years.
