This is a faint emission nebula located at the southern edge of the constellation Cygnus; 6 degrees ENE of Albireo. It has an apparent diameter of about 10 arc minutes and appears to be a complex of red Hα emission and a central reflection nebula. Within the nebula, newly formed stars surrounded by interstellar gas have been identified, suggesting that Sh2-97 is one of active star-forming regions.
This image has been cropped with an equivalent focal length of 700mm.
