Sh2-82 is the emission nebula observed in the central part of Sagitta. To locate it, start from the open cluster Cr399, known as the "Coat hanger", located in the southwestern part of Vulpecula, then proceed 2 degrees SSE. The nebula spans about 9 arc minutes and consists of a circular region emitting red Hα light, combined with a blueish reflection nebula adjacent to its north. It is sometimes called the "Little Cocoon Nebula" because its appearance resembles the Cocoon Nebula (IC5146) in the constellation Cygnus. Its distance from the solar system is approximately 3,600 light-years.
