At the southern region of Cancer, Sh2-290 is a dimmed but fairly larger-scaled planetary nebula positioned at about 3 degrees south of alpha Cnc. We can capture faint figure of the nebula only with a telephoto lenses. This image shows the nebula has a bluish color in central and a reddish region surrounds around it. It's considered that Sh2-290 is one of most ancient and the largest known planetary nebulae, with a real diameter of about a bit smaller than 23 light years.
This image has been cropped with an equivalent focal length of 700mm.
