These are two small spiral galaxies located 3 degrees northeast of βBoo at the northern tip of Bootes. The larger and brighter galaxy to the south is NGC5899, with the galaxy NGC5900 visible 10 arc minutes to its north. NGC 5899 is classified as a Seyfert galaxy with an active central nucleus. Both galaxies float at a distance of 110 to 120 million light-years away.
