This is an image capturing a galaxy located approximately 3 degrees SSW of θVir at the central part of Virgo. The lenticular galaxy in the center of the image is NGC 4958, with a brightness of 11th magnitude and a major axis of about 4 arcminutes.
The barred spiral galaxy visible 14 arc minutes west of NGC 4958 is NGC 4948. It is very faint at 15th magnitude, so detailed structures are indistinct. Including other faint galaxies visible in this field, they belong to the NGC4697 galaxy group, floating at a distance of about 40 million light-years.
