The bright spiral galaxy NGC3893 is located 5.1 degrees south of γ Ursae Majoris, one of the stars forming the Big Dipper. With a brightness of 11th magnitude and a major axis of 4.5 arcminutes, its spiral structure is clearly visible in this image. The galaxy belongs to the Ursa Major southern galaxy group and is estimated to be approximately 51 million light-years away. The small galaxy visible just 4 arcminutes southeast of NGC3893 is NGC3896.
