Located about 3 degrees northwest of the εCMa in the southern part of Canis Major, there is a closely nestled pair of lenticular galaxies.
NGC2292 is on the right, and NGC2293 is on the left. These two galaxies are positioned with a separation angle of only 0.8 arc minutes,
and it has been confirmed that some interstellar gas is shared between them.
Floating at a distance of approximately 100 million light-years, they form a galaxy group along with NGC 2280 situated 1.1 degrees to the southwest.
An edge-on galaxy visible about 4 arc minutes west of this galaxy pair is identified as NGC 2295.
