This image captures an edge-on galaxy and galaxy cluster located approximately 2.6 degrees southwest of δ Columbae.
The galaxy visible below the field is NGC2188, where the central bulge is hardly visible, and only the part constituting the spiral structure appears spiraled.
It has an elongated diameter of just over 4 arc minutes, a brightness of 12th magnitude, and is situated at a distance of about 24 million light years.
About 30 arc minutes north of NGC2188, there is a galaxy cluster Abell3381.
It encompasses around 70 faint galaxies and is positioned in the far distance at 470 million light years.
