M106 (NGC4258) is a spiral galaxy about 7.5 degree south-east of gamma UMa. Although this galaxy is in Canes Venatici, it's easy to search that from the Big Dipper.
In spring skies, you can find plenty of galaxies, M106 is fairly bright and easy to appreciate in them. The galaxy has visual magnitude of 8.6 and a size of 20 arc minutes, and you can see that the galaxy is stretching north-south direction through a medium-sized telescope. The distance of M106 is estimated about 21 million light years.
An edge-on galaxy lying only 30 arc minutes southwest from M106 is NGC4217. The galaxy has a length of 5 arc minutes and 12th magnitude in brightness, you can detect a clear central dark lane in this picture.
