IC 2974 is an unremarkable edge-on galaxy located in the southwestern corner of the constellation Virgo. It can be found 7 degrees south of β Virginis and stretches about 2.4 arcminutes from east to west. Although its structure is indistinct, it is classified as a spiral galaxy. The galaxy is estimated to be 250 million light-years away from the Milky Way Galaxy.
