This is an image capturing the modest peculiar galaxy Arp 102, lurking at the northernmost tip of Hercules.
It is situated 4.6 degrees northwest of iota Herculis. In the center of the image, Arp 102 is characterized by a tongue-like structure extending northward from its main body.
Additionally, although extremely faint, a bridge-like structure connecting it to a tiny galaxy (CGCG 252-40) located 3.7 arc minutes southward, can also be observed.
It is believed that such peculiar structures are formed through the interaction between these galaxies.
The distance to these galaxies is estimated to be around 330 million light-years.
