Abell 36 is a medium-scaled but dimmed planetary nebula lying at 9.5 degrees SSE from Spica, around a boundary between Virgo and Hydra. The nebula has an apparent diameter of 6 arc minutes; this image shows you an internal structure of figure eight. The distance has been estimated as 780 light years, one of the closest planetaries. The central star is a 11.5th magnitude white dwarf.
