Abell 3574 is a relatively large galaxy cluster floating about 200 million light-years away. It contains around 30 galaxies within a span of just under 1 degree. The largest galaxy in the cluster is the elliptical galaxy IC4329, visible near the center of the image, with a major axis of 3.5 arcminutes and a brightness of 12th magnitude. This galaxy cluster forms the Centaurus Supercluster along with the massive Abell 3526 (the Centaurus Cluster) located 16 degrees to the southwest. Numbers with 4 digits represent NGC # |
