Abell 28 is a faint planetary nebula located 2.8 degrees SSE of ο Ursae Majoris, the star that forms the tip of the Great Bear's snout. It has an apparent diameter of 4.7 arcminutes and emits red Hα light, with a 17th-magnitude central star. With an overall brightness of magnitude 14.6 and very low surface brightness, the nebula can be seen only in long-exposure images. Faint molecular clouds drift around Abell 28, and just to its east a streak-like nebula running north-south can be seen.
