Movement of the Venus (Composed image)
All pictures're displayed by turning south direction upward.
This page shows you a rare event of transit of the Venus on the solar disk on Jun 8, 2004, that was observed after an interval of 130 years in Japan.
Unfortunately it was cloudy, but I could capture some precious shots intermittently.
The Venus in that day had the inferior conjunction and had an apparent diameter of 57 arc seconds.
It's about one thirtieth of that of the sun. The ebony and round Venus has traveled slowly in front of the solar surface spending about six hours.
But in this time we had the sunset before the Venus passed the sun completely.
The orbital surfaces of the Earth and Venus have some tilt each other, so this sky event rarely occurs.
We will enjoy the event again on Jun 6, 2012, and further next we must wait for 105 years until Dec 11, 2117.
Warning:
You may go blind, or your eyesight may fail when you observe or take pictures of the sun without right knowledge about reduction of sunlight.
I do not take responsibilities for any accidents and/or damages by observing the sun even if this web page was how it all started.
