We could observe the Rendez-vous of Venus and Saturn with an elongation of about 5 arc minutes on Jan 9, 2016.
The first set of images compares the approach of these 2 planets in dawn eastern skies on and next day of their great approach.
A brighter and darker ones are the Venus and Saturn, respectively.
The second image has captured the planets about 2 hours prior to great approach in a single field of view of telescope through the infrared,
at that time the elongation of them has about 7.5 arc minutes.
I could appreciate the Venus moved slowly from west to east just north of the Saturn with its ring opened.
