This shot shows you the comet 1999S4 LINEAR appeared in northeast sky in the beginning of July 2000. The comet had a brightness of nucleus of about 7.0 or 7.5, could be caught only with small binoculars. And a dimmed tail stretched toward west about 30 arc minutes in length was also detected. But it was rather hazy that day, the comet might have a tail with close to 1 degree in length actually.
The LINEAR was moving to northeast slowly in the constellation of Perseus, its speed was getting faster and faster toward the rendezvous with Earth on July 23.
