The comet Austin was discovered by R. R. D. Austin, New Zealand, on Dec 6, 1989 with 11th magnitude. Although it was predicted that the comet would be 2nd magnitude in April 1990, we were felt short of expectations because the comet had a maximum bright of at most 3rd magnitude and an unevolved tails. I took this picture with a 8-inch reflector in the end of May after the brightness of comet was down. We can detect only dimmed coma without clear tails no longer.
