On this day, comet 2025R2 SWAN was located low in the southwestern evening sky, within the Milky Way at the southern end of the constellation Serpens Cauda. A bluish coma of 6th magnitude was observed. The red nebulae visible on the left side of the image are the Eagle Nebula (M16) in Serpens at the top and the Omega Nebula (M17) in Sagittarius below.
Due to strong light pollution, the tail-which should have extended eastward-was barely detectable. The comet will now move rapidly eastward and is expected to fade rapidly as it enters Nov 2025.
This image is cropped to an effective focal length of 300 mm.
View angle: 4.6×6.8°
