The comet 2009R1 McNaught in that day has been positioned in Perseus, about 4.5 degrees north from Algol, beta Persei. Unfortunately it was very bad transparency condition, I could not detect the comet with my naked eyes. This picture somehow shows you the comet has an indistinct ion tail of about 20 arc minutes in length.
