Comet Machholz in Dec 2004 has a coma brightness of about 5th magnitude, positioned in area of Eridanus. The comet has a fan-like dust tail stretched in west and a thin ion tail in north direction. You can detect in reversed image that the comet has an ion tail being constricted in the middle .
