On this day, comet 103P/Hartley 2 was located approximately 6 degrees WSW of α Hydrae, in the western part of the constellation. The comet was slowly diminishing in brightness as it moved southward. Compared to the previous month, it had become even fainter, with a coma brightness of 11th magnitude.
