On this day, Comet 103P/Hartley 2 was located in the western part of Cancer, and an 8th magnitude blueish and diffuse coma was observed. Although extremely faint, it appears to have a tail extending in the northwest direction. Currently, the comet is approaching its maximum brightness and is expected to rapidly decrease in brightness as it moves southward towards the constellation Hydra.
