The small reflection nebula vdB157 is located about 5.5 degrees SSW of γ Cephei, the northernmost star of the constellation. It reflects the light of an 8th-magnitude bluish-white B-type star shining just north of the nebula, with an apparent size of just over 2 arcminutes. It forms a tiny part of the vast Cepheus molecular cloud complex in this region, with an estimated distance of 1200 light-years.
