UGC3697, positioned in central region of Camelopardalis, is a small but unique-shaped galaxy. The galaxy has a nickname of "Integral Sign Galaxy", clearly we can understand reason of the name. It's not striking because the galaxy has a long axis of 3 arc minutes and 13th magnitude in brightness, but comparatively known from its peculiar shape.
Although it's not clear what made the galaxy's disk warped, one of hypotheses says the gravitational interaction caused by collision with a companion galaxy is reason of this unique shape. UGC 3697 is lying about 140 millions light years away.
