This is a very dimmed but large sized irregular galaxy lying in western Cetus, about 10 degrees west of beta Ceti.
The galaxy was discovered in 1909 by Max Wolf and accredited to Knut Lundmark and Philibert J. Melotte in 1926, now has a nickname of the Wolf-Lundmark-Melotte (WLM) galaxy.
The galaxy is about 3 millions light years away, a member of the Local Group (LG).
UGCA444 has an elongated shape in north south direction, longer than 10 arc minutes in long axis.
But the galaxy has only 12th magnitude in brightness, it's difficult to detect it with our naked eyes even if we can use larger ranges telescopes.
