This long-exposed field image shows you a corner in southern Cassiopeia slightly off from the Milky Way. We can detect an extraordinary dimmed but vast Hα region with a diameter of about 5 degrees at 7 degrees southwest from a bright emission nebula of NGC281 positioned at upper left-hand side in the image. The region was discovered by an astronomer J. P. Sivan in 1972, named as "Sivan 2". Although this image is indistinct, Sivan 2 has an outer region with reddish Hα color while looks greenish from OIII lines in the central part.
This image has been cropped with an equivalent focal length of 135mm with a field angle of 15°×10°.
