Sh2-73 is a vast and extraordinary dimmed molecular cloud distributed at about 4.5 degrees west of β Her, on a boundary on Serpens Caput. The central condense region has a span of 60×20 arc minutes, but nearly 4 degrees including the surrounding spread. The central shape has often been likened to a hairpin. The cloud has distributed at approx. 400 light years away.
