Sh2-22 is a faint emission nebula positioned at only 3 degrees southwest of the Lagoon Nebula (M8), which you can see in upper left hand side of this image. Although the nebula has fairly larger size of about 80×50 arc minutes, little known because of its faintness figure. The nebula has a dark gaseous matter obstructing in central region, looks like divided into two parts of northeast and southwest. The nebula is floating around 4000 light years away toward the galactic center.
