In lower southern skies of autumn, you can find out a galaxy of NGC55 near a border to Phoenix.
It's indistinct edge-on but classified in spiral galaxy.
The galaxy has a visual brightness of 8th magnitude, actually NGC55 is the third brightest galaxy in heavens next to the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) and M33 in Triangulum.
But the height of meridian is only 15 degrees around Tokyo, we have rare chances to appreciate the southern striking galaxy.
The galaxy has a long axis of over 30 arc minutes, and its central nucleus has been a bit inclined toward west.
You will be able to catch the galaxy only with a binocular under conditioned atmosphere.
This image has been cropped with an equivalent focal length of f=1000mm.
