This spiral galaxy is located in the northwestern part of Canes Venatici, near the border with Ursa Major. It can be found 5.2 degrees NNW of β Canum Venaticorum. The spiral structure is rather indistinct, with a major axis of nearly 6 arcminutes. Photograph reveals clusters of star-forming regions arranged in the galaxy's outer shell. At a distance of approximately 18 million light-years, it is a member of the Canes Venatici II Galaxy Group.
