NGC3044 is a medium-scaled edge-on galaxy positioned at about 4.5 degrees northwest of alpha Sextantis. Although the galaxy has a long axis of 5 arc minutes, amateur-oriented telescopes can hardly resolve the detailed structures. Central bulge of the galaxy is unclear; this image can barely show you that a dimmed gaseous matter is stretching in west side. It's estimated that the galaxy is approximately 50 million light years away.
