NGC2539 is a medium-scaled open cluster positioned near the northeast edge of Puppis in lower wintry south skies. Perhaps you can find out the cluster by tracing 8 degrees southeast from α-Monocerotis in the northern nearby constellation. The cluster has a span of about 20 arc minutes; you can detect 50 fine member stars gathered tightly through small scopes. A bright 4.7th magnitude stars has positioned in southeast side of the cluster being a good accent for appreciation of this minor object. The distance from the solar system has been estimated as about 4400 light years.
