In southwest region of Canis Major, a face-on barred galaxy of NGC2217 can be found out at 3 degrees north of zeta CMa.
The galaxy has a round shape with a diameter of a bit smaller than 5 arc minutes.
This image shows that the barred structures stretched from the central bulge, and the outer arm has wound almost whole circumference, looks like a ring structure.
The galaxy is lying about 65 million light years away, forming a small-scaled group with surrounding tiny member galaxies.
