In the northwest part of Canis Major, NGC2204 is a medium-scaled open cluster positioned at 1.8 degrees WSW of beta CMa. The cluster contains about 80 stars within a span of 12 arc minutes. The distance from the solar system has been estimated as approx. 13.4 thousand light years.
