In March 2003, the Mars has passed between two striking nebulae of M8 and M20. These images were captured during two days, you can see the movement of Mars per day.
The Mars had closed to these objects in 2001, that case occurred just before the opposition so the Mars was glittering brighter than 1st magnitude. But in this year the red planet is fairly distant from us yet, twinkling with calm reddish light.
