A dimmed and round galaxy lying about 2 degrees southwest has a number of IC983. The galaxy has a visual diameter of about 5 arc minutes, very indistinct halo is surrounding a small central nucleus. A companion galaxy just southwest is IC982, and an elliptic galaxy positioned about 11 arc minutes south is NGC5490.
